Located in the heart of Huntsville, Johnny Gryll's II is a vibrant, down-to-earth restaurant specializing in hearty American comfort food that strikes a perfect balance between bold flavors and satisfying portions. Whether you're craving a juicy cheeseburger stacked high with every topping imaginable, crispy golden onion rings with a Cajun twist, or fiery wings that test your spice limits, Johnny Gryll’s II serves up a menu designed to delight your palate and keep you coming back for more.
The cuisine here is a celebration of classic favorites done exceptionally well. Their signature burgers offer a range that goes from the reliably delicious Single Patty Cheeseburger to the indulgently loaded Double with Everything and Loaded Fries. If wings are your thing, you’re in for a treat with options like Wings Creepin Reaper, Jamaican Jerk Wings, and even the audaciously spicy Xtra Hot Wings, all paired with perfectly seasoned fries or crunchy onion rings. And if you’re craving something beyond the classic burger and wings duo, their Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and Steak Philly with Fries provide a savory and satisfying alternative.
The sides at Johnny Gryll’s II complement the main dishes beautifully. Loaded Fries topped with melted cheddar, jalapeños, and bacon add a smoky, spicy crunch, while their Mozzarella Sticks and Jalapeño Poppers bring in that irresistible cheesy gooeyness and a hint of heat. Fans of Southern favorites will appreciate the crispy, flavorful Breaded Okra and the option to kick up the seasoning with Cajun or Jerk-flavored onion rings.
For those with a sweet tooth, the dessert selection is just as thoughtfully crafted. The handspun shakes from KaleidoScoops deliver creamy indulgence and come in numerous flavors to satisfy any craving, while the homemade banana pudding—lauded as “better than grandma’s”—offers a nostalgic, smooth finish that’s perfectly balanced with real bananas and vanilla wafers. Classic Root Beer Floats provide a nostalgic, fizzy sweetness that transports you to simpler times.
More than just the food, Johnny Gryll’s II shines through its warm, welcoming atmosphere. It’s that kind of place where you can kick back without pretension—perfect for families, casual meetups, or anyone looking for a relaxed dining experience that feels like a local gem. Reviewer Mando Guerrero sums it up well, noting the restaurant’s unassuming charm and inviting vibe that encourages even the most discerning “bougie” diners to drop their guard and enjoy.
Customers can’t stop raving about the amazing attention to detail and consistently delicious food. Amber Williams highlights the standout burgers and fries, while Krista Paul praises the flavorful fried okra, Cajun-seasoned dishes, and even the refreshing sweet tea that complements every meal. Matt Hornbuckle elevates the Philly cheesesteaks to legendary status, insisting that this Huntsville spot rivals the classics from the East Coast. Meanwhile, Patrick Springer’s experience with the crispy onion rings and the satisfying corn dog adds to the chorus of authentic, homemade goodness.
Johnny Gryll’s II is more than a meal—it’s an experience that embraces bold flavors, heartfelt service, and a welcoming environment. Whether you're a devoted burger enthusiast, a wing aficionado, or simply craving down-home comfort food made with care, this neighborhood treasure in Huntsville invites you to take a bite and savor every moment.
We've not been there in nearly a year since we moved but that place is as good as it was, if not better, than the first. The atmosphere was very relaxing, a very down to earth place. It might not be for the bougie, but I most definitely recommend you go, even if you're a bougie. At the very least, you'll reconsider your status and frequent this place on days that you don't feel like being bougie. Every bit of the food is delicious. You can tell the wings are fresh, the burger meat is quality meat, and the ranch? The ranch is out of this world creamy.
Absolutely incredible experience here. We got shrimp, fries, Cajun sauced fries, Cajun sauced chicken, fried pickles, fried okra, drinks, and banana pudding. Even the sweet tea had such an incredible flavor to it. I have absolutely nothing negative to say, and all of the people working here seemed to really enjoy being here. This is probably one of my favorite meals I’ve ever had, and that’s saying a lot. Cannot wait to come back here and try more things from the menu. Also, we got all of that food for under $50. We definitely feast on comfort food today lol.
This place is INCREDIBLE, and more than that, CONSISTENT! They have a wide variety of food, and I have tried most of it! They’re best known for their Burgers and Wings, but perhaps their best kept secret is their Philly Cheesesteaks! These ARE, hands down, the best Philly cheesesteaks you will have south of Philly, and it’s debatable that they’re aren’t better than the originals! The burgers are perfect- their lightly crispy, yet fluffy buns sandwich a flavor packed juicy meat patty with your complete choice of toppings, a lot like 5 guys, but better! Their wings, both traditional and boneless, are ALWAYS perfectly cooked. Juicy on the inside, lightly crispy skin, perfectly seasoned in your favorite sauce. Their fries? Top notch, and a very similar cooking style. While they are fried and thin style fries, they are lightly crispy, but not hard from being overcooked. They don’t have a heavy grease taste either. Feeling froggy? Have them top the fries with Cajun Ranch seasoning to add a kick! When I say consistent, I mean consistent. I have eaten here at least twice a week for the past two years plus. And it has been less than stellar ONE time when they had a skeleton crew. When I have friends visit from out of town and they ask for an amazing restaurant, this is where I take them. Skip the $100 steak dinners. Try this place in complete confidence. Your taste buds will thank you!
Saw this place while leaving Rosie's last weekend and knew I wanted to try it, and I'm glad I did. I got a double with frings, the burger was good, fries were ok, but the onion rings were amazing! We also got a side of okra, it was good and crispy, but I feel it needed to be seasoned more. Wife got the corn dog and said it was really good. Overall this is a cool place and will definitely be coming back when I'm in the Huntsville area.
Amazing food and service. The best burger and fries I've had in a very long time. The attention to detail is what makes the food so amazing.
Double burger with bacon w/ fries and a drink $16 before tip! SO SO GOOD! Definitely worth it! Excellent professional and fast service! Good Atmosphere!
